Sustainable Agriculture

About Natural Farming

Natural Farming is a chemical-free farming approach that integrates crops, trees, livestock, local biodiversity, and on-farm resources. It reduces dependence on externally purchased fertilizers and pesticides while promoting natural nutrient cycling, biomass recycling, mulching, livestock-based bio-inputs, and diversified cropping systems. Press Information Bureau The approach focuses on restoring soil health, lowering cultivation costs, improving climate resilience, and producing safe food through sustainable farming practices. Local livestock, particularly indigenous cattle, can support preparation of natural bio-inputs using dung, urine, biomass, and other farm-based materials.

Key Focus Areas

Reducing reliance on synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and other chemical inputs.

Promoting locally prepared natural inputs using livestock resources, biomass, and farm-based materials.

Reducing dependency on externally purchased inputs and improving farmers’ net returns.

Providing practical training, demonstrations, handholding, and knowledge support for farmers adopting natural farming.

Strengthening soil biology, organic matter, microbial activity, and natural nutrient cycling.

Encouraging crop–livestock farming systems, preferably involving indigenous cattle and locally available resources.

Building farming systems better suited to environmental stress, resource conservation, and changing climate conditions.

Supporting farmer-friendly certification, branding, and market recognition for naturally grown produce
